Default Yoga and Flexibility

Hi ,

I have just started practicing yoga recently (6 weeks ago), I try to go to a training 3 times a week plus do a proper (1 hour or a bit more) training on my own twice a week. Atm, I am rather inflexible, therefore I was wondering if you could share your thoughts/experiences on how long it will take me to get remarkably more flexible (i.e to be able to do splits both ways).

Thanks loads

My yoga teacher recommend us to use wormwood ointment. It is very effective for making your knees more flexible, which is important for padmasana.

Thumbs up Hi

It all depends on our body type. Age also matters. As children are more flexible than young people. Ex: As I am 26 and i am not doing any exercise or yoga. Though I am fit but my body is not flexible. This time my body is stiff. It may take some time to get flexibility in your body. Stretching exercises are more useful in this regard.

Follow your routine regularly. Your body will get flexible, sure. If you will leave your practice, your body will become stiff again. Anything good needs patient. do it patiently.

Well it does take time to get flexible, a friend of mine has been practicing yoga for 3 years now, and she says that flexibility improves with time and practice of yoga.

Everyone's always talking about yoga and how good it is for you. Hmm.. I really think I should get into this.

I agree with the posters who said it depends on your age and body type. I would give it a few months, at least

Yoga is something I am thinking of incorporating into my regime, but always thought that you have to be flexible, least I know now that I will get flexible with practice and time. Think I will start this week itself.

Can yoga make you grow tall since it increases your flexibility?
