Default Mellow Yoga

Hello! I would like to learn more about Yoga as Therapy. It seems like most of the Yoga training around here Portland, is for Hard-core Power Yoga types. I enjoy that flavor of yoga now and then - but I'm much more interested in Restorative Yoga and possibly Yin yoga, as I am learning more about that. What is the deal with all of the Teacher Training for the Bikram types? I like my yoga gentle - not the super-athlete sort of yoga. It's kind of turning me off, actually.

Is Kripalu a more gentle brand of yoga?

Thanks

I heard of Kundalini Yoga as a soft Yoga for beginners and for Pros. Though Kripalu is also good, I prefer Kundalini. Try it if its available in your place.

I also like the gentle yoga. Yoga is actually calming and relaxing exercise. We store energy instead of waste it in doing yoga. Many practitioners like to get sweat in doing yoga, but it's not a main purpose of yoga.

Im not sure if there is something as such as gentle yoga, just do the postures which give less strain or dont make you work hard. Im a new starter to yoga too and start with only the basics and practice in the breathing exercises. I think I will slowly do the most advanced and complicated postures.
