Default Crab Salad

Do you make crab salad? I love this version of it: imitation crab meat, hard boiled eggs, and finely chopped onion, dressed with mayo. It makes an excellent appetizer or side dish.

I should really try this out, because I've only had crab like twice, and it was plain. Plus, I was a lot younger, so maybe that's why I didn't like it.. not sure. Do you think it was because it was plain??

How do you think it tastes best?

I have had crab (crab legs), and I love it. I don't know if I could eat just plain crab meat, I usually dip in in melted butter with salt added. I find it yummy that way.

As for the salad, you don't even have to use real crab meat for it, which is also rather expensive. Imitation crab will do just fine. Plus, other ingredients add a lot to the taste.

The crab salad sounds good. Could we put some green leafy vegetables to it? My husband would definitely enjoy eating this one. He likes any kind of salad. Maybe I could also try this one next week.

that's funny

Imitation crab is made from a type of fish, it looks like crab leg meat.
I think it is made from pollock.

That makes more sense. Lol. Ya, chicken isn't from the sea. Well, unless you're Jessica Simpson, but you know.. lol

Farce is right, imitation crab meat is made of fish, I'm not sure what kind. It looks very close to crab meat pulled out of a leg shell - half-red, half-white. The taste is a little different, but it works great for the salad.

I suppose you can add green leafs to it - or serve the salad on lettuce leafs.

I haven't tried crab salad before. Do we have to put a little lemon or olive oil in it? I think some salad has that. Anyway, I like lettuce and carrots a lot. I'll try to put some in the salad.

Since you use mayo as dressing, I would not add olive oil - unless you want to experiment and change the dressing altogether, using olive oil by itself.

I have not added any veggies except onion, that's what the recipe calls for, but I suppose you can always try!
