here in the South in the US we have some interesting foods. Collard greens and fried chicken Collard greens come either canned or fresh here. If you choose to use canned, open a can and drain, heat all the way through and pour some vinegar on them. Fried chicken, I do this with vegetarian chicken strips too. 2 cups buttermilk cornmeal mix 1 egg chicken strips, fresh chicken cut up, salt, pepper, seasoned meat tenderizer vegetable shortening beat egg with a bit of water or milk. take piece of chicken and place in milk, then dredge into the dry buttermilk cornmeal mixture. Place into sizzling oil. Turn when browned. drain on paper towel. serve with collards. |

Would you say Southern foods are more spicy? If so, what the spices are? Is is salt and pepper or some kind of a sauce? I have only been to the South once, and for a very short visit, so I didn't get to try a variety of foods.
