Default Indian Weddings

Well we all know that Indian weddings are full of colour and excitement, and the best part is that the weddings last for days as there are so many ceremonies involved!

Although many people when they hear the word Indian wedding they think that all Indian weddings are the same, but each one is very different, as in India their are people of many different religions and they all have different traditions, ceremonies and wedding cultures, which is why every Indian wedding is different.

You would find some similarity in Indian weddings, but when you understand the concept better you will know how very different they are from each other!

A common thing you will notice in Indian weddings is the bright dresses and heavy jewelry worn by the women in Indian weddings!

Another important aspect of Indian weddings is that every where there is a tradition of making fire, which is supposed to be the purest of the elements, a witness of the whole process of marriage and oath is taken by the couple while circling around it.

Right harpreet! Indian weddings are very different. In my childhood days the wedding will be for atleast two days with variety of food items, enjoyment etc.everything.they will spend more money for weddings. But now the world is so fast, just half a day weeding is finished and all are cost considerations.....

I like Indian weddings very much. The rituals and celebrations are quite interesting. They will grandly arrange the wedding ceremony with invitation to all relatives and friends.

As Harpreet said, Indian marriages are very nice to see and they differ from their status, their custom and their culture, at that time no one thinks financially because marriages are done only once and that is the only day we can enjoy so much with occasion and delicious meals for about a week, it is the happy occasion in a family which makes all the family members and friends feel happy.

Jessika I take it your talking about Hindu weddings as Sikh weddings don't use the fire element!

I have been to a lot of Indian weddings both of Hindu and Sikh friends, and all the Hindu weddings are different because of their beliefs and where they are from in India, such as a Gujrati wedding is different from a Bengali wedding, although I enjoyed both of them.

Indian weddings are somewhat similar to Pakistani weddings too, in concerns to what Harpreet has mentioned like colors, the long days the celebrations go on for etc! Although there are differences in the traditions and customs the reason being that its a different religion.
