Default The expenses

Weddings are very expensive. I truly have a hard time with the costs of weddings. Maybe I am a redneck or something. I just don't understand spending $1000s and $1000s on a wedding. Why start out in the hole?

My friend was going to take out a $15,000 loan just for the wedding. I told her she was crazy. They already live together. They have been together for 7 years. They have a mortgage and 2 car payments. Why add more debt?

I tried talking her into having the type of reception where everybody brings a dish. I think that is the greatest. It's more down to earth and brings more love into the reception. A family gets together and makes it happen. Like I said, maybe I am just a redneck.

Do you think the cost of a wedding is outrageous? Or do you think a bride should be able to spend what she wants?

Tell me about it! I think that some weddings are very outrageous.

My son is getting married and the brides family has no money, so we are putting on the reception for them. We are having family members make the cookies. We are all pitching in and making the food.
We are not having an open bar. Just beer and wine, pop and water.

The couple is making a play list on their ipod for the music. There will be minimal decorations.

They aren't renting tuxes. They are wearing nice black dress pants and white shirts.
The bride is pregnant so she is wearing a sundress.

We are thinking that we can do this for under $1000.

Yes the cost is silly and people put themselves into debt because of it. We married in a different Country as it was cheaper and we had all the same luxuries only half the cost, I can't understand personally why people spend silly amounts of money on one day when you can put it into your home or doing something nice together.

Personally I can't understand why anyone would want to spend so much money on a wedding. A small reception is better than anything else and it's less of a headache. I understand it is a special day but when you have to pay for it for the years to come, it just loses its whole magic...

Wedding are so expensive. Main expenses are in food, wedding hall decorations etc. Most high class families spend more money for their son/daughter's wedding just to show their status. Most families end with a simple reception.

We just had a wedding (as stated above). We were able to do it for about $700. If you ask for help and do it without hiring outside help, it saves a bundle!

I was married by a judge (my uncle) and had only close family members as guests. We had the reception and the wedding ceremony at home. It did not cost much and was much more meaningful for its simplicity and the family bonding that ensued.

Indian weddings are so expensive earlier. But Now-a-days people realized the worth of money, so they try to reduce the expenses. Still some high status people are spending more........

This is a great way to celebrate your marriage. With only family and close friends there it does cut down the cost, but is more memorable for everyone.
