So, I think its a great idea to figure out what you want for your wedding dress at the store, then place the order online. This is what I am planning on doing. How long in advance do you typically need to place the order? My wedding isn't till the end of next summer, anyone know what my sense of urgency should be?? Thanks for any help!!! |

I think a couple of months would really help you. What if you ordered only a few weeks before the wedding and found out that the dress didn't fit you? You could return it, but not have a good wedding dress in time. Make sure that you take shipping time into account, too.

I would say nothing less than three months. Verify their delivery and return policy and order it about three months in advance and if anything happens that you are not happy with the dress or it is somewhat flawed, you'll have ample time to return it and have it replaced and not worry about it getting to you at the last minute.

I would recommend at least 6 months before, just in case. There are so many things that could happen. The wrong product could be shipped, the dress might need to be altered, something might be defective with the dress. I think 6 months should give you plenty of safety.

I'm the kind of person that likes to plan ahead, so six months is definitely a good idea. What if something got spilled on the dress, and you needed to get it dry cleaned? That could take more time than you realize. Anything can happen, so be prepared!

My cousin ordered her wedding dress online. It came and every part of the dress was intact, it was as lovely as it looked online; however, it was a bit dirty. It needed to be cleaned. She got a phenomenal deal - $1500 dress for $375-- so the cleaning was no sweat. She didn't even complain, and the dress looked great. Before you order online, you must have yourself measured. Ask a friend or your mom to do it for you. Wedding dresses are often NOT like just saying you wear a size 6, like regular clothes. Oftentimes, you will need adjustments in various areas, which is normal. I would stay away from David's Bridal, really. They are a big chain that does not have great service. Their dresses are cheaper because of economies of scale (buying power), which is expected because of their size. However, I've heard so many horror stories about David's I am not even considering them for my dress. I've heard everything from incorrect items ordered, then refusing to exchange/replace; dresses not being altered in time and all sorts of things. I really would consider looking elsewhere if you don't find a deal online. Last edited by sidonyyi; 02-08-2011 at 03:44 PM. |
