Tom & Jerry
Don't you like cartoons? I used to love them as a kid. My favorite was always Tom & Jerry. Watching the comic fights in which Tom, the house cat gets beaten up by the tiny mouse Jerry was my favorite pastime. The show used to make me laugh like nothing else. Now, when I watch the show with my young nieces and nephew and feel the same amusement and excitement in them, I feel that I am still a child some where inside me.
The series was first produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera from 1940 to 1959. From 1960, the cartoons were produced by Gene Deitch in Eastern Europe for the same production house. But in 1963, Tom and Jerry came back to Hollywood. From the 1970's the cat and mouse duo has been flaunting their antics on television under the production of Hanna-Barbera and Filmation Studios together with other characters such as Spike, the dog, Tuffy or Nibbles mouse and Quacker the duckling.
Which are your favorite story plots of the show? I love the episodes in which Tom chases Jerry but Jerry always escapes through his quick witted antics or sheer luck. But above everything, I love the ones in which Jerry and Tom shows a mutual concern and friendship. May be because to me it looks like a hope for a better world where even enemies know that they need each other in times of trouble.
