What do you think of spinoff series? It seems like it can go one way or the other... either they're really, really good, or really, really horrible. The good ones seem few and far between. Xena was a spinoff of Hercules, and I absolutely loved it... and lately I've gotten hooked on Torchwood, the spinoff from Doctor Who. There's been a lot of awful ones, too... does it matter how good the original show was? What they do with the characters and how true to the original they stay?

I think it might work in a few situations but most of the time a spinoff is sub-standard. It's difficult to get the same kind of effect that you got with the original. Personally I think it is better to make a whole new series.
