I just don't see the point in ever getting a car anymore. I mean, I'll get my license eventually but to actually have car seems too expensive. I mean, first you have the price of the car itself, then you have to get insuranc, and then the cost of repairs. I would much rather use my bike, the bus and an occasional cab. I think it will be a lot cheaper for me

It is cheaper to use public transport instead of a car. But I prefer driving car to work as I lose less time & get have sense of security while traveling except when sometimes it’s faster to use the metros.

I just HATE taking the bus. I mean, it's gotten easier or me, but there are some weird people on there! Plus, like you said.. it can take FOREVER. Also, it's getting more and more expensive all the time

For us a car is an absolute must. We don't have any public transpot here and it's a bit of a bind trying to walk the 45 minutes into our nearest town with two children. The nearest supermarket is only accessible down a motorway, so for our little family a car really is worth it.

There's public transportation in the next town over, but not here. I still love public transportation because you never have to worry about gas, and they're usually on time. Still, in Texas, people love to drive, regardless of gas costs. I don't blame them. You just have this sense of control when you're driving your own vehicle. I'll get my own soon enough.

I live in the country and have 4 children. If we want to get anywhere, we have to use our car. I would be stuck at home without it because nothing is in walking distance.

I guess you guys are right, if there's no other form of transportation or you have kids, you kind of have no choice. That's when a car becomes a requirement

I understand what you mean, but I know that I'll want my own transportation soon. It's way better than having to ride the bus or call or cab or even getting a ride from a friend. A car lets you come and go when you please according to your own schedule unless you live in a city where everyone commutes to work.
