Default Money money money!

I'm telling you, it's been bad lately with handing out the money.

My daughter is always needing money for this or that!

I handed out $20 for the carnival on Saturday- Today she tells me she needs $10 for the dance ticket to the semi-formal tomorrow- I already bought the dress and she needs shoes still.

Last week it was $10 for the book fair too.

Of course at the beginning of the week was the last $100 for the trip to Quebec with French. I paid the other $350 a couple months prior.

I'm telling you- kids think money grows on trees!

Are your kids always asking for money?

How about trying to earn some? There are plenty of opportunities for teens to make some pocket cash, in the "real world" as well as online. I don't have kids yet, but if I did, I'd make them earn at least some money for themselves.

My boys both work, so they rarely ask for money. I do pay for their tournaments and class trips. One is going to join Striders Track club so he needs $110. He asked me to pay 1/2 of it and he said he would pay the other 1/2 . I told him that we will pay the whole thing, but he has to buy his snacks/t shirts at the meets.

My daughter just got a team together for the Gus Macker~ $32 + $15 for a t-shirt. Then she decided she is going to summer camp $325 needed for that!

Thankfully the boys are now pretty self sufficient or we would be going broke!

Your daughter will love Quebec~ I remember going there for French class.

Well my daughter did earn all her spending money for the trip - She is up to $160 now. She is only 12 (almost 13). I would never make her pay for school activities (dances, book fairs, etc).

She really wants to babysit this summer. She took the babysitting course. She was supposed to but I think the wife just got laid off.

Well, it's a good thing that she is trying to earn some money herself. Of course, you are helping, as most parents do, especially when it comes to school supplies and activities. But when it comes to "fun money," I'd say it's the kids job to earn.

I agree to a point. There are things that kids can do to earn money. It's tough to go get a job at the age of 12. I have no problem sending her to the movies once a month- it's the every weekend thing that bothers me.

She does chores around the house for an allowance. She usually always uses this first.

You're handing out money to your child? When I was a kid, I didn't even get to have an allowance even though I made good grades. I think it's time to learn to cut back a lot.

Cut back? Are you kidding me... To not have an allowance or to be allowed to do anything with the school or friends to me just sounds so harsh. I have no problem handing out money to my daughter for these types of things. I just think she needs to realize how much I am handing out and pick and choose what she wants to do and not do all of them.

I,m very cautious in spending the money, why because it is very hard to earn it, when i was small i used to earn my own fees, payments, etc, by working during summer vocation, not only me but my both the brothers too, we used to the work in our school in cleaning, painting the sshool and the hostel, we used work in the hospitals too, in helping the Doctors and Nurses. So, tackling with money should be very careful as far as i concerned, when it is needed very badly we can't and we need to suffer very badly, though i can effort now, i'm very careful in spending money for my kid, but still make him happy by giving what all he wants without making him cry or feel bad.

Some kids who are really dependent will always asks for money. When I was young I can't even ask for money for my school fees to my parents. I feel shy and doesn't have the gutts to ask for some money cuz I know it's really hard to earn a penny. Even so if I'm going to have a child I would not spoil him/her and teach them how to save some money for themselves.

I can't tell you how much mother my grandmother has given me. My mom and dad never supported me in that way. My gma was always the one buying my clothes, taking me out to eat, paying for school events and things.. she's an amazing lady. She still to this day gives me money each month to make sure I have enough food and clothes and things. She's great! Love you gma!!!

Sadly, she has cancer Lymphoma
