Default Not needing as much

Boy I have to admit it's hard every time my daughter does something without me. She is 12- almost 13.

Every year we go to the carnival in town together. This year she will go with 4 friends without me. She is growing up. I hate it. I always thought she would need me forever.

Yes I know she will, as I still need my mom- but I miss my little girl!

It is amazing how fast they go from wanting to go everywhere with you to wanting to go everywhere without you, isn't it? I know how you feel. Just wait until she is in her 20's, then she will be back to asking you to do things with her.

I hope so... There are days when she is still my great kid who needs me and wants me around. There are others when she would rather text or talk to her friends and wonders why I'm there.

I'm sure it will get better as she gets older. I'm super close with my mom.

Yes, I think she will "come back to you," so to speak, when she is a little older. She has discovered friends and how fun it is to do things with them, right now it's a novelty, but with time, she will miss her mama and want to be a kid again.

Well I hope that is true. She does want to do things with me still, but if a friend calls she is gone! I am sure it's normal as I was the same. I'm very close to my mom now. I'm sure our relationship will be fine and we will be close later in life. I want the closeness now

You've certainly brought up one thing that I dread the most. My girls are 8 and 9 and they are already becoming too independent to my liking. However, we will all have to let them do their own thing at some point. It is funny though, I can remember changing their diapers as though it were yesterday...time goes by way too fast!

Oh my gosh that's so sweet. Just like my mom, before she can't live without me even if I left them already and decided to go independent. She even gets jealous with my aunt who's also so dear to me. She's really sensitive thats why I love her so much.

Aww I'm sorry! I can relate, because my little sister is like a daughter to me and recently we went to Wild Waves, and she kept running off with her bf. It's so cute, but at the same time it hurts and you really feel like you're losing them. (I basically raised her, we didn't have very good parents)

I think that is part of growing up. I'm sure there would come a time wherein I would miss hanging out with my kids. You could invite her friends in your house. It would be nice to know them as well. What do you think?

I think that's a great idea. Have a day planned where you, your teen and all his/her friends can hang out somewhere
