Default Learning to drive

It is almost that time for us...my son will be 16 in January. I really can't wait for him to get his liscense.
Many parents think that I should have him wait until the weather is nicer to learn to drive.
What do you think?

I think a new driver is better off learning in harder conditions as he or she will be well prepared for next time. It is always a time of stress when a person is just learning to drive and they have to get on the road when it's raining or snowing.

Yeah it should be in a fair weather where he could be relaxed and learn to drive properly. Driving while raining or snowing is kinda hard for a trainee. Why not ask for his opinion if he's ready for it then go train him.

I think you should wait until the weather is nice. Your child is still a novice at driving, and anything can happen out on the road, especially if the weather is bad. You don't want your child to get hurt because you allowed him to drive when there's snow on the ground.

My thought is if he learns in the winter, he will not have to relearn again next winter. If we wait until summer to teach him, he will eventually have to learn winter driving. If he can pass his roadtest in the winter, he will be fine.

I think it would be scary to learn to drive when it's icy or snowing. I know he's going to be pretty upset if he isn't able to drive, so maybe you could do a little bit right near your house?

But nobody is really able to drive when they are just starting over anyway. Practice is important, especially in the bad weather. And it is completely safe as long as the apprentice is accompanied by someone who is an experienced driver.

Just remember to be patient when teaching someone to drive. When I first started learning, my dad was the one who was teaching me, and he was overly critical. He even yelled and cursed. It made me want to learn from someone else. I didn't like the way he drove anyway.)
