Default Teenagers and camera phones

Today teenagers carry cell phones commonly. Though it becomes difficult for the parent to decide what is the right age to hand over a cell to the child but eventually parents scum to the demands of the children. Since we live in a digital age cellular phone are just normal things for teenagers to carry along. Though cellular phone companies advocate that teenagers should be allowed to use a cell phone and they are justified to a certain extend in saying so as cell phones are saving grace in times of emergency but there are many misuse that the teenagers can get in to with the camera phones. Today we cannot deny a cell phone or a camera phone to the teenager as it affects their cool factor. And then we also feel that it will help them in emergencies.

Nice post. I'm not sure what the right age is to give your child a cellphone. I think I got my first one when I was about 14 years old. I remember being so jealous of all the other people who had them. I think they are definitely great for emergencies. Plus, there are new features that can be added to phones that limit the amount of minutes used, and even the time of day that they are allowed to talk on them. So, I think parents have a lot more control now than they did before. Great features!

Well I got my first phone when I was 14 too. Parents here are strict before since these phones are not cheap during 2003. Now I think it became a need since we in some way need to communicate with parents while at school or anywhere else. I wouldn't be that strict to my child about how they use it as long as it's not going to put them in any trouble.

Does anyone remember about that teenage girl who had accumulated a bill for some crazy thousands of $$ for texting?? That alone should make many parents stop and think. She was texting mostly at school, too, during classes.

That sounds very familiar, yes. I remember hearing a lot of crazy stories about bills that were in the thousands. My mom made me keep track of the amount of texts I sent.. If I went over, I would be in BIG trouble. I can't even imagine texting that much! The most my bill has ever been was in the $200s and that was because I bought games. She must have been a texting machine.. also, she probably didn't have unlimited text.. that's a must

Oh I do remember something about that. Well it's really a bad case since they got their child a plan. But I'm not going to do that since it's not really the trend here to be securing a plan for texting and calling. I'll just have it the prepaid way.
