What are your thoughts about teens getting a car of their own?

All of my kids saved enough money so by the time they got their liscense they had enough to purchase a car.
I find it so helpful for them to have their own car so they can run errands here and there for me when they are out and about.

I think teens having a car can be a great thing for them, but only if they are responsible enough to handle it. I got my first car when I was 15 and it was a great experience. It empowered me, it helped alleviate my mom's schedule because she didn't have to drive me everywhere. However, I think that there are plenty of examples of teenagers who have a car, but they haven't been taught how to be responsible with it and that is definitely a key to anyone having a car!

I think it's a great idea for teens to have their own transportation, as long as they are well educated though. We need to make sure that they know that they should be very careful and follow the traffic rules and regulations at all times. Once they can be trusted, it is very convenient for the whole family to have teens drive on their own. It saves a lot of time for parents and gives more independence to the teen.

I think it gives them a lot of confidence and self-esteem to know that they are trusted enough to drive and have their own car. However, I agree with my sister's dad, he told he she has to get a job and then he'll let her have the car in two years, but she gets to drive it all the time. I think it's great to show them responsibility and really feel like they worked for what they have.

BTW... my little sis just got her license!!! I WAS SOOOOO PROUD OMG!! She's like a daughter to me, and I sat in the car that first time with her driving, recorded the whole thing and put it up on YouTube!! Haha.. made her feel really, really special tho so it was worth it to me!!
