Could someone please explain to me why it is so necessary to have to accumulate so many posts before we are permitted to send VM's (1500) or PM's (5000) it does seem rather excessive and to be honest I do not think that I shall ever post that many!

I agree with both of you. I don't think it's fair for those who don't have as much time to complete that many posts. I miss the days when we could pm and all of that.

I was trying to figure out why it was done myself and the only thing I could come up with was maybe they want to try to reduce spam or something and they want to make sure that the people who can view those types of things are dedicated members?? Not really sure though.. never seen it on any other forum before

The reason that you need a certain number of posts in order to send private messages or visitor messages is to stop people from spamming and also promoting their own sites, as some people on the forum have been sending private messages to near enough all the members inviting them to their sites. Unfortunately because of those people spamming, others are then unable to use this facility on the forum for the time being.

LOL, I wish...I tried sending a message to Brittany and got the same message as well. Perhaps we can request that our admin makes some changes to this rule?
