With all the recent cold weather we had our home heating on alot which has dried out my skin something terrible, I have been using alot of moisturiser but find it sinks right into the skin and does not leave it smooth, I can still feel a roughness to the skin, can anyone recommend a good moisturiser that I can use on the face too that will leave the skin silky soft ?

Try using a cold cream after using moisturizer. I use Nivea cold creams which I find quite effective during colds. These creams create a layer on your skin & prevent loss of moisture from the skin. Moisture loss is due to evaporation & not by absorption within the skin. So once your skin is well moist, applying of cold cream will prevent evaporation & give smooth skin for longer time. I hope its useful. |

I know it sounds strange but Vaseline really does work. My grandma used to use it on her face all the time.. you can rinse it off before you go out

Dry skin has a low level of sebum and can be prone to sensitivity. The skin has a parched look caused by its inability to retain moisture. It usually feels "tight" and uncomfortable after washing unless some type of moisturizer or skin cream is applied. Chapping and cracking are signs of extremely dry, dehydrated skin. Dryness is exacerbated by wind, extremes of temperature and air-conditioning, all of which cause the skin to flake, chap and feel tight. This type of skin is tightly drawn over bones. It looks dull, especially on the cheeks and around the eyes. There may be tiny expression lines on these spots and at the comers of the mouth. |
