Default Baking powder for dry skin

Hi,
I have read somewhere that baking powder can be used as a scrub. I am not sure whether it is baking powder or baking soda? An can it be used for dry skin?

I thought maybe this link would help you.

Baking soda is a great way to relieve dry skin. I have also used the oatmeal method on my children. They come out of the tub feeling so soft.

Baking soda... is simply sodium bi carbonate.
baking powder contains some acidic and drying components .. so it is better to use baking soda on the skin

This information is new to me. I didn't know that baking powder or baking soda could be use for dry skin. Are these similar to a moisturizing lotion? I always thought that moisturizing lotion would be best for ladies that have dry skin.

What is the advantage of sodium bi carbonate in the skin? Is it a chemical? The first time I read this one, chemistry came to my mind. I don't know lots about it.

Does the baking powder create any harm to the skin surface? as far as i know baking soda destorys vitamin b2. So those who have the deficiency of vitamin b2, should not use baking soda.. what about its effect on external skin then?

The dermatologist once prescribed baking powder or baking soda when I had an eruption of hives. It helped soothe the itching.

I am not sure that it is the baking powder. I think it is the cornstarch that is being used in dry skin.

I have used it ... makes the skin soft .. dunno about regular use or repeated use
I do not know whether it makes any difference to ppl with thiamine deficiency
although i think baking soda only destroys thiamin when BS is added while cooking ..
