Why is it that guys can get away with things that if girls did, they would be looked down upon. I mean, guys can have all the one night stands, and lovers as he pleases and not get the looks, the rude comments behind their backs? It's weird to me!

I know what you mean, though I think times are changing for the guys too. I just think it's awful that young people don't seem to have any self respect anymore, males or females. What happened to respecting yourself and others?

Let's not forget how guys get away with not having to shave their arm pits! And how we have to keep our legs shaved, but they don't have to keep their faces shaved.

Hey, I say if there's no law against it, and you don't feel bad about it, then do it. I wouldn't worry about what other people are saying. If men can do it, then so can women. I grew up with the motto "Girls Can Do Anything!"

I like that! I wish all of us grew up hearing this! I grew up thinking I NEED a man to help me and I can't do what guys do. My mom was a perfect example of this. However, I know I can make it on my own now and I'm very proud of myself

I was always raised to be independent. I can't imagine NEEDING anyone but myself. I like standing on my own two feet. My motto is, "Whether you think you can or can't....you're right." I read that somewhere and it really stuck.

Both of my parents encouraged me to be independent. I was always told that gender didn't matter just like age, race, or religious beliefs. I never cared for the double standard that was always imposed on women. These old-fashioned beliefs need to go.

It's nice to hear there are so many of us independent women here! I used to think I needed someone, but now I'm realizing that I am very much capable on my own! It's a very empowering feeling. I just can't believe I've figured out the online thing. I think I really can start making about 1,000 a month if I work hard at it! FINALLY! My dreams are all coming true so fast. I'm very, very happy about it!
