Default Asexuality

I read online about people not being attracted to either men or women. That seems interesting as a concept and very believable. What does everyone else think?

I think it's a very rare case of humanity. I haven't seen anyone who's not attracted to anyone of the opposite sex. Isn't it kinda boring and somewhat really weird.

I don't find it weird but I just can't really contemplate that thought for myself. I have always been very attracted to men and I still am. Not being attracted to any gender whatsoever seems a little unnatural. However, nothing really surprises me and I'm sure there are even stranger things out there.

I think its natural to admire good looking men and women. But to feel something deeper than an admiration for the same sex is something I have never experienced and hope never will. It feels, unnatural and unhealthy or shall I say, amoral.

For me, it would not be normal if a person doesn't know how to admire other people. This may sounds annoying to you but it's really true. Do you agree guys, that attraction is just a normal feeling to a person?

The want to reproduce is built in to us other wise as a species we would die out. maybe for these people this isn't built in how ever if its a genetic trait it wont survive long as its not being passed along

I can't imagine my life with out attraction with out it can you still fall in love?

Asexuality simply refers to a lack of interest in sex.It does not mean ppl who are so do not admire or get romantically involved.

Some have sex too.

@Drew it can still be passed on, even if it is genetically caused phenomenon.. some asexual do have sex and may be even kids.. even if they didn't characteristic would only die out if it is a expressed by a single dominant gene.

I have never met anybody who has not experienced not being attracted to another person. It's not normal, at least for me.

Instead of labling it natural, I think attraction to another person has become the norm in society whereas people who do not feel attraction or any type of sexual desire are seen as broken or people who need to be fixed.

You don't think its natural ? You think it's become a norm ? what do you think the norm was before sexuality became a norm ?

Asexuals are not seen as broken ,or to be fixed... probably because there aren't many of them to result in a, public attitude to develop towards them.

I think that there are more people who call themselves asexual in their hearts than you may think, but on paper label themselves as heterosexual because it's easier. I also think that there's pressure for people to label themselves as quickly as possible for the sake of society.

I've never heard of that, but I think anything is possible. I think that would probably be a really lonely way of life don't you think? Then again.. maybe that's just how they like it.. hmm. I'm going to look more into this.. I'm really curious about it now

I've heard of this... only in plants though, not people or animals. However I don't think it's strange. I don't really know enough about it, but my guess is that the person would be lacking a hormone.. or maybe more than one. It could be something that is temporary too.

Thumbs up

i have also heard about this. There can be many reasons for this. Socially, biologically, psychologically. The concept of asexuality first began to be explored in the 1940s, and recognized in the 1970s. There are also some asexual communities. These communities create a network where asexuals could use to establishconnections with other.

important thing is asexual and celibacy are two different things. Sometimes a person may want to be in celibacy.

oooohhhhhh I get it now. I thought originally that you were talking about people who are not attracted to either sex. I was like.. hmm. I get it now. That makes more sense. I'm sure there are many people who just don't wanna be in a relationship. I say, as long as the people are ok with it, then go for it. I'm open for anything, as long as everyone involved knows what's going on

I think for some people who call themselves asexual, not being attracted to either sex is a big part of it. What I find interesting is that most people only associate asexuality with plants and organisms, but not people. Still, not much is known about it.
