Default Budget for Shopping

When going out shopping, do you ever set a budget that you will only spend a certain amount of money and no more than that? Or just withdraw a certain amount of money?

This is something which I would love to do, but somehow it does not work.

I have taken only a certain amount of money from the house and gone shopping, then someone how when that money finished then went to the cash point and withdrew some more!

I think the next step will be to leave the cash point card at home

Funny thing is, I always set a budget but I always spend more than I'm supposed to. How do you accomplish that goal? I am terrible at it. The other day I spent $300 DOLLARS on clothes and random stuff. It's just dumb and I don't have that kind of money to spend. While I'm not working, I need to save up to make sure I can pay for my rent. (I live with a few people and my rent is only $125, so I think I may get a part time job)

I always make sure I have a list when I go shopping and bring only a limited amount of money necessary for the items that I need to purchase. I have adopted a new habit as well, I no longer bring my debit or credit cards with me, because it is too tempting to go and buy things that I don't necessarily need.

Honestly, I think the best way to only spend a certain amount is to get some cash outta the bank, and not allow yourself to use your debit or credit card. I try to go with like 40 bucks or something, however.. having the cards with me make it very tempting

I usually shop only when I need something specific, and in that case I do have an approximate amount in mind that I am willing to spend on it. So yes, I guess you can call it budgeting.

I do set a budget, but I stick to it. I also make a list and stick to it. This way I know I will stick within my limit on spending.

My family has been on an extremely tight budget lately. We use a lot of coupons which are sometimes doubled and tripled. We take advantage of those club cards that some stores use. We don't have a specific budget, but many times, we don't spend more than ten dollars per week on groceries.
