Default How Long Is Too Long for a Divorce?

I remember reading in the newspaper once about a couple that decided to get a divorce after fifty years of marriage. That's a long time, and it's very unusual by today's standards. Do you think that the couple has been together too long to want a divorce?

I don't believe that any length of time can be considered too long to get a divorce. If the relationship is dead and the differences between the couple can not be resolved at all, then there is no point in staying together and live a miserable life, especially if you're getting older. As we age, the best thing we can do for ourselves is to enjoy the life to the fullest and I doubt that would be the case for people who force themselves to stay in a marriage that no longer gives them any happiness.

That's true, but I really can't stand when a couple who has been married for almost half a century seems to suddenly leave each other. The reason is usually something trivial, and you know that they both still love each other.

I have had several relatives who have split up like this. The stupid thing is that they will stay in touch with one another and even start to spend a little time together. It only makes me wonder why they even split up.

You didn't answer my question. How do you know they still "Love" each other?
