Default 40 days after pregnancy

The post pregnancy period is equally important and critical for the health of the lady as during the pregnancy. There is a prescribed period of 40 days after pregnancy when the mensuration happens and that is the time when the new mother needs proper diet and rest.

Not ony that. It is also the period of time wherein the mother could experience post-parthum emotional stresses brought about by physiological factors right after giving birth. Hence, at this point, when the mother would seemingly be difficult to deal with at times, those surrounding her should understand and be patient with her as this would just fade away in no time.

Breast engorgement is one of the most common complaints of post partum mothers. It is when the breast begins to swell due to the stimulation of the mammary gland to produce milk. The nipples becomes really sore that even the softest clothing may cause pain.

I had my share of this on my 4th day after giving birth. So painful that my temperature rose to as high as 40 degrees Celsius, and I was already shivering. What an experience!

I remember my days after pregnancy and I know my family telling me that I would maybe go through some emotional distress and other things. But luckily I didn't, I was pretty normal, just got a bit frustrated at times, but nothing really serious.

Good for you. I think I expected this from you, from reading your
posts you seem to be a positive, well balanced lady.

to help feed and change, in addition to 12 hour days at work ;-)

not yet. I mean not yet about the diet ;-)
It is basically not to eat anything that might give heat or gas.
if you eat the gassy foods (they call it vayvu in Tamil, should be
similar in Malayalam or Kannada ;-) and if you are breastfeeding
then the child might be irritable and colicky.

yes, every two hours, either it is time to feed or time to change
the diaper. The first three months are like that. Might not be
applicable to everyone, but I was a very hands-on daddy ;-)

my wife and I want a second kid but I am not sure I am as young as I
was, to handle the stress and work.

1. well, once you have a baby, you'll feel differently you won't feel
like having sex for much longer than that ;-)

2. you can probably have sex till the last few weeks or so.
