Most children walk by the age of 18 months. It is absolutely normal if your child cannot walk at this age only if the child’s other areas are developing well. It might happen that your child can not walk at the age of 18 months, but he or she can sit, stand and crawl. If the child doe not do even these then you may have to consult a doctor. We should always keep in mind that different children develop different skills areas at a different rate and age. So there are no fixes rules for this. And we should give free space to our child to develop.

you are right. development of a child differs from any other child. So comparing them to other kids of their age is not right. It won't build the confidence of the kid

Oh yea you wouldn't want to put pressure on the kid by forcing him/her to walk if it's not yet possible. Although it looks kinda exciting the way babies walk ).

I learned to walk and talk at a later age than my older brother, but there was no pressure put on me. When I was in school, I didn't talk to a lot of people, and my teacher used to write on my report card that they wanted me to open up more. I think that if teachers and counselors knew then what they knew now, they would have misdiagnosed me or something.

| My dad was really proud of me. I started walking at about a year It must be a wonderful feeling seeing your child learning to do new things. I would be the mom who's freaking out, taking pictures lol. It would be hilarious

What do you think I should do? My baby is nearly 20 months old and still has no interest in walking. She does scoot around the floor on her bottom with great effect, stands when she has something to lean on, but she never crawls or lays on her front. We encourage her as much as possible, but she does not seem to have sufficient strenght in her legs. Am I worrying too much? She has developed really well in other ways. She can feed herself without making a mess, her speech and understanding are brilliant and she is now telling me when she fills her nappy. |

I think if she is happy scooting around on the floor then just leave her to that. You cannot push a child to walk if they are not ready, just try some gentle encouragement and praise. |

I think that the best thing that you can do is give it time and be patient, but if you're really concerned about the strength in her legs, maybe you should see a doctor just to be safe.
