I am a recently converted vegetarian and am looking for some starter recipes. If anyone is a vegetarian or just has some good recipes without meat, would you please pass them on. I don't know of that many foods that can be made vegetarian and would appreciate any reply's, thank you.

Here is my favorite fish & veggie recipe: Grate some carrots, finely chop onion, and fry them together on vebetable oil, with tomato paste or some ketchup. When the veggies are soft, place cod fillets in there and bury them in the veggies. Add some salt. Cook until the fish is done.

That sounds like a very good recipe for a quick meal or snack. Thanks for sharing it.I confess I have a habit of late night snacking because I'm up late and usually on the internet in the forums. So I like to throw together a quick snack that's easy to make and only takes a few minutes so I don't miss out on any good topics.

Well, this one is actually not very quick because peeling & grating carrots takes some time, as well as chopping onion, but it is certainly an easy one - only 2 ingredients + fish. For something quick, I'd suggest fresh apple and walnuts. They go amazingly well together. |

Cook some rice, stir fry a selection of your favorite vegetables and add a dash of soy sauce. This is a quick, fresh and really filling dinner.

I love spinach and lentil soup, and mjaddra (rice and lentils). Also falafel is great when you are craving meat. I also like okra and potato curry. Oh and afghan rice made with carrots and raisins... there are too many to name..

My favourite vegetarian reciepe is onion bajji. It is very easy to prepare. Make thin slices of onion. Ready made bajji mix is available. Make a thick paste of it. Dip onion slice in this mix and fry it. |

Lentils are a good source of protein and great to replace meat with. I make curry lentils that you can have with rice or roti. I fry onion and add some spices like cumin and chillies to the onion. Boil the lentils till soft and than add to the onion and spices. You can add any veggies like carrot (I even add green beens), potato, peas or whatever you like.

| Isn't it? If it's not, I'm sorry, I had no idea. I thought vegetarians wouldn't eat meat products. All right, here is a different one, no fish! Dice some tomatoes and onions, fry them together in vegetable oil until the veggies are soft; add some salt & pepper (my husband likes also sprinkling some sugar). Then add some water and some instant rice. Let simmer until the rice is done.
