Default Honey tea

In our family, we have been using "honey tea" for generations to treat colds, cough, and sore throat. You just take a teaspoon (or two) of honey and dissolve it in a cup of hot water. It is best to take this tea before going to bed.

Would adding lemon to the drink be of any benefit? I have read that a honey Lemon tea can help with sore throats and the effects of a cold.

I have never done that, but I think it would be good, because citrus is also said to help when you have a cold. I'd make "lemon water" or "orange water" by adding fresh citrus in it and drink that when I am fighting a cold.

You can also add some ginger to it if you like, which is an extra addition to help with colds and coughs and sore throats, especially in winters!

I have never tried adding ginger... I wonder how it would change the taste.

Sweet honey tea is very nice and relaxing, I have noticed that it helps to sleep better, too.

honey lemon drink(lukewarm) is also good for sore throats and curing the effects of cold. lemon is a better citrus fruit compared to orange in this case..drinking this could also clear the toxins in the body especially when you drink on empty stomach

No, I have never mixed milk and honey, although I have heard that it is done sometimes. I have had warm milk by itself though, to soothe a sore throat. It helps.

lissy, we do something similar. but we use ginger, lime and honey... the flavors are great and it really makes you feel good. It helps to quiet a cough.

Well, so what is the ingredient list now? ;-) the original had honey and
water, then we added lemon, sugar, milk and ginger.

I am going to contribute by adding a dash of turmeric and pepper.

LOL farce, now you are creating some new recipe of your own!

I would not add sugar because honey is very sweet by itself. If the tea tastes too "watery," I'd just add another spoon of honey. I'd go for some lemon, but probably not milk.

Wow. These are very helpful thing that you all mentioned. As for us, we only use honey for curing cold and coughs by adding it on a lemonade.
