Default Home remedies for kids

Common problems that the kids face can be taken care at home rather than rushing to the doctor. Our grandmothers applied them and were successful too. We might today not believe in them and get panic with a little cry of the young and rush to a doctor. But if thought about carefully and with patience these remedies are actually blessings. Natural ingredients like turmeric, ginger, pepper, and honey were commonly used by the members of the older generation in India and they relied heavily on them as they were not too convinced with modern treatments. Even today, parents to try to treat common illnesses at home by these methods. We all know that the immune systems of babies below the age of one year are not very strong so they are more prone to falling sick with slight changes in weather, diet, etc. If a child has stomach ache than little Heeng mixed with few drops of water or ghee and be massaged over the child’s stomach. This will give instant relief to the child. In case of cough try giving a little ginger juice with honey to the child.

My family used honey a lot, mostly to treat colds and coughs. Honey is a remedy most kids don't object to - it tastes good, so they'll eat it or drink honey tea you make for them. That's one remedy I always have in my house.

I think it's amazing that there are easy things that most just having laying around their home that can make such a difference, and save so much money. My mom was always one of those mothers that rushed us to the hospital when we got a cough or anything. I think it's such a waste of money. Most things will pass pretty quickly. Maybe that's why I don't like doctors lol

buckwheat honey works wonders for a cough. Just make sure you don't give honey to a child under one year old (botulism)

I like using honey too and as you mentioned, kids never seem to say no to the taste of honey. Besides, it is much better than the cough and cold medicines that they sell over the counters and always readily available on our pantry shelf.

Children who are getting new teeth will experience pain and sometimes bleeding gums. Babies start teething around six months old (sometimes earlier or later) and they continue to get new teeth until they get their 12-year molars. While older kids probably won’t have as much pain as a baby, it is uncomfortable. If your child complains of a toothache, look inside there and see if a new tooth is erupting.
