Default World Music

In America, World Music isn't the most popular genre of music dispite the country having a very diverse population. Mostly English and Spanish songs are popular. I'm a fan of world music. I like music from France, Brazil, Japan, and lots of other countries as long as the lyrics aren't in English. Does anyone else share my passion for world music?

I prefer to understand the thoughts or ideas conveyed by the music. Some feelings could be aroused by the music even if the words could not be understood though. Italian music is one of those.

I like classical music, especially the instrumental one. I agree with selene, Italian music is great music. I like Italian songs, especially those are performed by Pavarroti.

I love Celtic music... there's something so powerful about even just the music there. Kind of ironic, since I'm from New York and of English descent!

Their passion for life comes through so clearly in the music though - powerful stuff!

I would have to agree with you , I went to a 3 day long christian concert . And they had all types of music . The one group that I found the most interesting and fun was a Celtic Group called The Crossing . It was so much fun when we got to go to the concert and they led people around the stage in a celtic dance.

For me, all music are beautiful. But sometimes, I can't easily understand its lyrics. That's what English is still the best. LOL! How about you, what is your favorite music language?

Really? You mean, even without understanding its lyrics? as long as the bit is nice? Well, sometimes, I'm actually like this. For me, as long as it's pleasing to my ears then, I'll admire it.

Yea if I find something that is really nice and pleasing to my ear I can listen to it all the time... I am one no matter what I am in the music for the beat . If I can understand the words great and if I cant it is no big deal .

Very nice, Kat! I'll have to check them out - I'm always looking for new groups.

Scythian is one of my favorites... they started out playing in pubs in the Washington D.C. area, and they just keep getting bigger and bigger. It's a group of young guys, all of whom are the sons of immigrants to the States. They've gone back to their Celtic and Hungarian roots in their music, and captured some really amazing stuff, from pub songs to folktunes.
