Maybe it's just because my grandma just passed away or something, but I feel like there's so much death in movies. It never used to affect me this much, and I'm wondering if anyone knows what I'm going through. I find myself wanting to tear up so easily when someone dies in a movie, even if it's a comedy and it's meant to be a funny thing. It's really hard to enjoy movies, because I feel like I'm going to cry at the drop of a hat. I'm also noticing, there's so much murder in movies and I kinda wanna stay away from it. I prefer to laugh or watch something that will make me cry in a good way, like a love story

It's an emotional time for you, that's why. And since you were close with your grandmother, things may be this way for a while. I'm sure it'll pass. What you should do is think about pleasant things, surround yourself with love and happiness (romantic comedies and comedies). I've never found the violence in movies to bother me because I know that it isn't real. Movies are bound to have some violent element in them. |

I'm sure that it will pass soon. We're desensitized to violence, and before long, you'll notice that it doesn't affect you as much, either. Until then, why not indulge the kid in you with a nice family movie?

| That's a great idea. I've been watching simple things lately.. My bf is going to drag me to the theater on Friday though to see Legion, that looks so scary!!

Well, the trailer for that movie was enough to scare my mom, so my interest is definitely piqued. I'm not sure how that will do at the theaters, but I am hoping that it'll do well.

I guess it shows how desensetized we have become to death and violence in the movies. We've seen so much of it, we don't even notice, or disregard it as "unreal." But when you watch it with an open heart, ready to feel and sympathize with the characters, you suddenly become affected by how much of it fills the screen.

I think it's important for us to be able to distinguish between the fictionalized version of violence and the real one that happens in our world. If we can't do that, then it will have a greater effect on all of us. It's a little hard to have a good action or horror movie without death in them. If no one died, it might be thought of as unrealistic.
