Default Crying at the Movies

Do you like to cry at the movies or watch movies that make you cry? I don't, but I do remember two times that I almost cried at the movies. There was the end of "Armageddon" where Bruce Willis's character died at the end, and then there was "Terminator 2" when the Terminator had to be destroyed at the end to save the future. Not exactly sentimental movies, I know, but I almost couldn't hold those tears back.

I do not cry at movies in the theatre I think it is because it is so impersonal. When I am watching a movie at home and it touches me, I will cry. The last movie that stirred me to tears was entitled, "A Lawyer Walks into a Bar...". The movie documents the lives of six law school graduates as they prepare to take the California Bar Exam to gain a license to practice law. The sacrifices and stress that these individuals endure to pass an exam with about a 37% passage rate is phenomenal. At one exam more than 5,000 people appeared. I know that many lawyers do not have a favorable reputation; however, not all of the individuals who enter law are looking for big fancy cars and fat paychecks.

Well, I can't say I "like" crying at the movies, but if something in the movie touches me, I do, and it happens quite often. I will not deliberatly choose a tear-jerker though. Recently, my husband brought a DVD with a movie based on that song about little boy who buys his dying mama shoes for Christmas - I did not want to watch that one.

I'm not a fan of the tear-jerker type of movie, and I certainly don't enjoy a good cry. If I feel like there's a scene in a movie that's kind of sad, I'll try my best to suck it up. I usually end up telling myself not to cry.
