Default Product Placement

How do you feel about product placement in movies? Do you feel the same way about product placement in your favorite TV shows? Do they distract you from what you're watching?

I rarely pay attention - what a big disappointment for advertisers, LOL! Seriously, when I watch a movie, I am enjoying the story, and I could care less whether the characters drink Coke or Pepsi.

As the previous person mentioned, I pay no attention whatsoever to the products in a movie or a show. I have never been the one that cared about brands or purchased things upon seeing it on the screen. I simply purchase what I deem is best for myself.

Normally, I don't care about the presence of a product in a movie as long as it doesn't interfere with what's going on. I think that product placement is realistic as most of us do use brand name products. However, with TV shows, product placement is becoming too abundant. I feel like they go out of the way to make sure that the audience sees the product.

Well, if they keep doing it, that tells me there are many people who are easily affected by such things. They'll buy what they see on TV (beats me why...).

Product placement is a much cheaper way to do advertising now. And since the price of traditional advertising is going up due to less people watching commercials because they're either skipping commercials or watching content online, I think that product placement is going to be more frequent in the future.

I don't have a problem with it provided it does'nt get in the way of the movie or show.

I can see it as an effective form of advertising for big and small brand companies.

That's the thing about it. Done right, it feels natural. No one will think twice if a character in a movie picks up a Coca-Cola and drinks it or if there's pizza box from Domino's sitting in the background. I just hope that the characters don't go out of their way to advertise a product. If commercial entities start investing in entertainment, that could very well happen.

I don't pay any attention. I mean, sometimes it's really obvious but it doesn't bother me. It just may make me want the product. (For ex: I was craving twinkies so bad when watching Zombieland)

I like it better when the product doesn't stand out very much. I've never felt like I wanted something more because I saw it in a movie or a TV show. I'm not that impressionable.
