Default Video game Movies

The video game industry is a multi-billion dollar industry, yet movies that are based on video games don't do so well. Does anyone know why? Are there any movies that you like that were based on a video game?

I don't think I've seen any of these types of movies, but I'm sure they're not that popular because people who haven't played the game probably wouldn't be that interested in them. Also, the people who LOVE the games would probably be disappointed by the movie, because it will never measure up to the game. Just a thought.

I think these movies don't do so well because there is not much depth to them - usually. When a movie is based on a book, it is based on something solid. The author had nurtured the concept, thought out the ideas, characters, plotlines, etc. A movie made out of a video game does not have that.

I personally wouldn't really care for this type of movies - there are currently some but they just seem quite lame.

Usually, the problem comes from the screenwriter because they weren't a fan of the video game franchise, and they make a lot of fans angry. I think the best video game turned movie so far has been "Tomb Raider." It would probably be a good idea if the person who wrote the script for the game also wrote the screenplay.

Well the kung fu panda is based on some video games too. I've seen some sneak peaks on how it was done and they said that it's just like in video games. I also wanted to see a movie of call of duty but I think the single player version of it is more like a movie to me.
