If you want to watch a film that makes you love your country even more, then check out “Heroes” directed by Samir Karnik.

Hero is a film about two film academy students, Ali (Vatsal Sheth) and Sameer (Sohail Khan), who have to make a movie to complete their graduation. For this project they decide to make a documentary highlighting the reasons on why not to join the Indian Defense Forces. They get three letters which have to be delivered to the families of the deceased soldiers. They embark on a motorcycle road trip for providing the three letters

Heroes, stars Salman Khan, Preity Zinta, Sunny deol, Mithun Chakraborty, Bobby Deol, Sunny Deol, Vatsal Seth, Sohail Khan, Riya Sen and Amrita Arora. The writer of the film is Aseem Arora. It was to be released on June 6, 2008, but it was pushed ahead to October 24, 2008, which was the opening weekend of Diwali. A month later the script of the film was asked to be part of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The film’s primary shooting was done in locations like, Chandigarh, Ladakh and Punjab. Some of the portions were also canned in Delhi. Also some of the shooting also took place in Pangong Tso with Salman Khan, Sohail Khan and Vatsel Seth.

“Heroes” has received generally positive reviews from the critics. Websites like, Bollywood Hungama gave the movie 3.5 stars out of a total 5 stars. The leading daily, The Indian Express says that the film manages to say that pride is the thing that keeps the families of the deceased soldiers living their lives. The film proves that our country is only free because our country has brave ‘soldiers’ who are guarding the country’s borders.

Heroes is no doubt a movie worth watching once atleast, the concept is very good. But are some directional flaws in the movie, first of all the star cast is not up to the mark and the story seems too extended sometimes. On the bright side, the sequence of preety and salman is awsome and really touching.

I keep hearing this show is really good. I didn't know there was a movie. However, when I get into a show, I want to see every episode, so I'd have a LOT to catch up on!!

Is it good enough to spend all that time??
