Default Pretty Woman

Pretty Woman is a popular romantic comedy film. It was released in the year, 1990. The film is centered on a ‘Pretty Woman’ who actually is a down-on-her-luck prostitute Vivian Ward. During the course of the movie she is hired by a wealthy businessman and corporate raider, known as Edward Lewis. He wants her to escort him on the various business functions. The film is a look at the development of their relationship.

The producers of Pretty Woman initially wanted to be a dark drama about prostitution in Los Angeles. However later on it was reworked on and was turned into a romantic comedy. The film was a huge commercial critical success and ended up becoming one of 1990's highest grossing films. As of now the film is considered to be one of the most financially successful entries in the romantic comedy genre. The film has grossed an approximate of $464 million USD in total.

For her performance in the film Julia Roberts was awarded with a Golden Globe Award. She was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress. The film’s screenwriter J. F. Lawton was also nominated for a Writers Guild Award as well as a BAFTA Award.

The film’s success gave way to a lot of similar romantic comedies that includes Runaway Bride, with the same cast of Richard Gere and Julia Roberts, directed by the same director Garry Marshall.

The film also inspired a Bollywood movie Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, that starred popular actors, Salmaan Khan, Rani Mukerji, and Preity Zinta. It had various similar plot elements; however the focus of the story was very different. It followed the idea of a prostitute who falls in love with a rich businessman; however the film also includes certain similarities like the businessman's associate who attempts to rape the prostitute and the prostitute who is thrown out of the fashion store.

This is a classic movie, and i think that Julia Roberts portrayed her character very well, as she always does in all her films anyway!
Although it was released when i was very small, but even today you will find people watching the movie (for many it being a favourite too) and talking about it.

I enjoy this film. Julia Roberts as a modern day Cinderella and Richard Gere as Prince Charming - what's not to like?

Julia Roberts looks pretty in the movie. Yes she always looks pretty in her movies, but I really like her appearance in Pretty Woman. I also like the theme song.

I can't even recall how many times I've seen this movie and I still enjoy watching it when it comes on TV. I am not crazy about Julia Roberts but I like Richard Gere. I loved watching The Jackal where he plays an Irish terrorist, he was really great.
