Your situation is totally normal. It is very important for husband & wife to bond through foreplay (fingering & sucking). During foreplay the man feels totally comforted and relaxed. The foreplay bonds the man to his wife which is very important. Where couples don't do foreplay then their relationship will be much weaker.
