I have always wanted to know what happens in marriage counseling, I mean when those doors close what happens? What does a marriage counseling session consist of? Have any of you gone into marriage counseling? If so share your experiences...just curious to know about it! |

I have not had marriage counseling, but I have read books written by counselors where they describe the sessions. From what I've read, the counselor will let both the husband and the wife speak, so that they reveal their view of the situation and name the problems. While one is speaking, the other is not allowed to interrupt. When both have shared their view of things, the counselor begins to work through the problems with them. The counselor won't take sides, he or she will tell each party where they are wrong.
