Default Should You Get a Background Check?

People have a lot more problems these days, and they try to hide them, but now there's Google and other ways to find out about a person's history. Would you get a background check on a person before getting married to them? My mom advises me to.

I'm not quite sure about this one. I have never done it and never encountered any problems with anyone. However, that is not to say that I always knew everything about the people that I've been with. I would like to give the benefit of doubt to people and also not judge them for their past mistakes. However, let's not be gullible either. If we have any suspicions, it is always best to be informed about their background or perhaps even ask them about it.

In my opinion, I guess there is nothing wrong if you would have a background check with the someone you are interested with. Anyway, what would you like to know about the person? I would suggest that you should ask him directly.

I dont know what to say on this situation, its good to do so in its own ways, but it also depends on your partner what they are like, from which you can judge whether its good to have a background check done or not!
Im lucky as my partners very honest with me and me with him and know of each others past

I do believe in asking people upfront and giving them the benefit of the doubt, but I don't think they'll tell you everything that you wanted to know. I definitely plan to do a background check. I figure it's the same as having your partner get a blood test to make sure that the person doesn't have any diseases. It's no big deal.

Do you have doubts with the person? I guess a background check is not a bad idea. But of course, if you want to know the whereabouts of that person, it would be better to ask him directly.

If you feel that you can't trust this person then why are you even considering marrying him?
I would never get a background check on someone who I was going to marry. I would have complete trust in this person before I would even consider marrying him. Maybe this is naive of me.

I think a background check will give anyone who wants one peace of mind. What if you discover that the person that you want to marry is still married to someone else or a con man or something? Maybe I've been watching too much TV, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

I see where you mom's coming from. I'm not sure, myself, if I'd feel comfortable doing something like this. Do you trust the person you're with? I know how hard it is becoming to trust people though.. This is hard for me to answer.. Follow your gut

I'm not saying that I wouldn't trust the person, but a background check would put my mind completely at ease. I wouldn't have to lay in bed at night, thinking, "What if?" I would even recommend the man to do a background check on me. It would get everything out in the open.
