Even though available in cake form or cream form, liquid form of mascara that come in tubes with wand applicators id the most common and easier to use. I prefer water proof mascara which is slightly costlier than the ordinary one.

Mascara must be applied from the base end to the tip of the eye lashes. Applying mascara to the top eyelashes gives you a heavy-lidded look, while applying mascara to the bottom lashes gives a wide-eye look.

While applying mascara, twirl the wand at the base of the lashes, so that mascara is applied at the base to give you longer looking lashes. While moving from base to tip keep twirling the wand so that the lashes separate and do not stick to each other. After applying mascara, close your eyes and brush the wand from base to tips to remove any clumps.

To get that dramatic look you can try applying two coats of mascara; first lengthening mascara followed by thickening mascara. To avoid clumping of lashes, try applying a mascara primer before you apply the mascara.
