Why is it when a mother finds out her daughter is dating a guy, the first thing she always seems to ask is "Is he cute?" It's like, how are you supposed to answer that?! lol. "No, he's ugly!" Does anyone else think that's weird?

Yeah I guess parents expects that much from their daughters haha. Because they always say their daughter is pretty and deserves a cute/handsome guy as a bf.

I think a mother would be more concerned with the boy's character and whether he is well settled in life so that he can support her daughter ! Looks are the last thing a responsible mother would care for!!

I think reina why your mother asks that, she is just checking your taste, and i think she tries to compare it with her...hehehe...

Perhaps they view it as a conversation starter, they ask the question hoping that the daughter will open up and tell more about the guy. I'm sure a good mother would like to know much more than whether he's "cute" - she would be interested to hear about his personality, character, what he does, etc.

Not all cute guys are good guys. Why your mother ask like that? Why don't they ask, "is he a monster?". lol

My mom doesn't ask me that, but after she meets him she definetly gives me her opinion on if he's cute.

Oopsssss... I cant imagine it. Mom asking me about my boy friend whether he looks cute?? Am i day dreaming.?? Myt be she wont fire me if i confess that i am in a relation but i dont think majority of the mothers including mine would take it that lightly., after all its their daughters life.
