Default Half Siblings

I don't have any full brothers and sisters, but it never really fazed me. I'm sure if I had a 'real' sister or brother, I would feel the exact same way about them. We just all grew up never really caring whether or not we had the same fathers. It's nice that I get to hang out with some of my younger siblings quite often, because their dad lets them come over on the weekends and around holidays. I really hope things don't change since my grandma's dead!! I still want to be able to see them so bad, because we really need them right now with everything going on.

Do any of you have half siblings?

I don't have any but my two daughters are half siblings and they absolutely love eachother. They get along so well you would never even be able to tell that they are half sisters. Besides, I don't really think it matters whether you are from the same parents or not. A family is built on love and understanding and when these two factors are present, everybody feels close to eachother and doesn't even give a thought of things like being half siblings.

That's a really good point and I don't look at family as just the typical 'family'. I think of many of my friends as family members and my bf, even my ex. I really care about people and like to include them as much as I can.

My mom has some half siblings of her own, and they are so much better than her real siblings. That's good for her, but I don't think that I would want to have any half siblings. It can become a real mess when it comes to inheritance and deaths in the family. It gets ugly.

I have a half sibling. In fact, I just got off the telephone talking with her. I do not think of her as anything but my sister. She is older than I am so she has been around for my entire life. I would not imagine life without her.

Inheritance and deaths in the family can get ugly whether full siblings or half siblings are involved. It is greed that takes over. If a person dies pennyless, there is nothing to fight over.

Yes, that is so true. As always, money ruins everything! My mom and her siblings had a huge fight over what gramps had left for them when she passed, it's been five years and it's still going on....
