My grandfather was recently convicted and is now in jail for (allegedly) being inappropriate with a young female in my family. I don't know what to think! I mean, I haven't seen him for years, but when I would visit as a kid, I never got any weird vibes from him or anything.. Has anyone been through something like this?

I bet this is hard... I have never been in a situation like this. My sister-in-law had her then-husband arrested and sent to jail, but she knew that he was guilty, and he had been in jail before. So there was no question of what to think, whether to believe it or not. Is your grandpa married? What does the rest of the family think?

He's married yes, and the lady he's married to is a very mean person, so she's glad to get rid of him so she can have the house and all of his money. The rest of the family is confused too.. we all adore him. (Or did, because many of us have been out of touch so it's been a LONG time since we've seen him)

This is indeed very sad. Allegations like this can be hard to prove, especially if there were no witnesses, yet they marr the person's name even if untrue, and they can result in going to jail. I wish there was a way to verify things like that to be certain, so that no innocent people suffer.

This is sad indeed. What does the young female have to say? Did she confirm the alleged crime? Or was it just the wife who did this to him? Pardon my seeming bias for the wife...

I'm really not too sure what's going on. All I hear is what my mother tells me, because I'm not in good contact with the family anymore. My mom has told me the girl always had a thing for him, and is standing her ground. It really upsets me that his wife would not even care that he's gone. A part of me wants to write him a letter, but I'm not sure what I'd say... What if he did do it? I just dunno what to think.

I did have a relative who was in jail, but I didn't know him very well. Regarding your grandfather and what he allegedly did, I wouldn't know what to think. My parents loved the other people in the family very much, but they would rarely leave us alone with the other adults.

Unfortunately, things like this do happen in families. My step-father is a pedofile and that if one reason I don't have anything to do with him or my mom.
