Default Unconditional Love

We do not value what we have. The love and affection of our loved ones goes unnoticed in the race of life. Let me tell you a small story that helps appreciate the love of the ones who are around us. There was a man who punished his 5-year-old daughter for wasting away a wrapping paper. The child pasted the wrapping paper on an empty box to decorate a box and had put it under the Christmas tree. Next day the girl brought the gift box to her father and said, "This is for you, Daddy." The father was felt badly about shouting at the girl earlier but he become angrier when he found that the box was empty. He spoke to her in a harsh manner and said that she dose not even know that she should not be giving empty box as a gift to anyone. The little girl with tears in her eyes looked at her father and said, ‘It's not empty - I blew kisses into it until it was full." The father was ashamed of himself he hugged his little girl tight and asked her to forgive him. After few days an accident took the life of his child and the father kept that box by his bed for all the years of his life. He opened the box to take out those kisses whenever he felt low in life.

The key to this story is to love everyone around you, whether they are your elders, someone the same age as you or someone younger! Love will only make your relationship better and you a happier person!

I dont' believe in unconditional love and never asking a thing from those who you love the most. But as a matter of fact we expect the most from those whom we love the most. so what is unconditional, it is just not being selfish.

The only people I have unconditional love for are my children, my sister and my parents.

Regardless of what my children may do in the future I will love them. I know that I may not perhaps agree with some of the choices they make, but I cannot understand some mothers who never have anything to do with their kids once they have grown up and moved out of the home.

Unconditional love is not easy, but I think most of us are capable of it, we just need to think a bit more of others and a bit less of ourselves. As jessika mentioned, it is simply "not being selfish."

Unconditional love is that affection which does not bring limits to whatever it is we are capable of doing for another. It is doing anything for another without even thinking that we have done it in the first place. So much so that even if that another would never acknowledge what we have done or made for her, we would still feel good that we have done it. This type of love occurs to those who help others he doesnt know.

Do you think that when people first fall in love, they love unconditionally? I think so, that's why we have sayings like "Love is blind." The other person seems perfect, and even if you do see some of their shortcomings, you love them anyway.

i do no think so. i think that it is more a case of blindness...people love with expectations and illusions of the other person...then, they start living together and they realise things about each other that they did not know

Oh my, what a story.

This is the first time that I've heard about this story. It was so wonderful.

I don't believe in unconditional love by the way. When love is said to be

unconditional, it only means that the people involve in that love does not think

about the conditions of it.

It's a very beautiful story Anu, I admire the child. This is a lesson to everybody, we should learn to appreciate the smallest thing around us. For me, I always consider them as a gift. How about you?

Sorry Anu. I hated that story. It was too depressing.
