I think as you get older sometimes it gets difficult to show your love to your parents. Maybe because you feel more grown up, I think I ma be going into this stage although I would like to avoid it. For those who are old than me, or the parents on this forum, how would you expect your child to show their love towards you? What things can help this affection to be shown?

I believe that if you show respect and listen to your parents they know that you love them. You don't have to say it the whole time. My kids do little things for me like helping out in the house when necessary. It doesn't mean we never have a difference of opinion but we make sure we always solve all our arguments.

I think it isn't so hard, especially if you have a strong emotional connection with your parents. Just spending time with them - talking, listening, having a dinner - shows them that you care. I know people who live without calling their parents for months if not years, as if the parents are already dead. I don't understand it.

Children have their own ways in showing love for their parents. Do you believe that what you reap is what you sow? I mean, if parents have been good to them then, the children would show positive results. |

I would agree with Brandy. I believe that what you reap is what you sow. Parents should be gentle with their children. If you have raised them with affection and discipline they would tend to show you what you have imparted. Whenever they do little things or achieve something, appreciate them because it means a lot to your children. By the way, how do you show your love to your parents, Miss T?

Yeah if parents are so bonded with their kids then there's no problem for them to show their love to each other. I show my love to them in a different way like giving them handwritten letters just to tell them what I can't tell them personally.

A simple hug and a kiss goes a long way with the parents. You can also leave them little notes telling them how much you love them. You can remember their birthdays, etc. Parents already know their children love them but it's the little gestures they appreciate the most...

I have a very awkward relationship with my mother. Since going to college I feel as though she doesn't know me anymore, and my intelligence is perceived as arrogance. I want badly to talk to her, but I can't. I hate this feeling because I am now 25 and cant be honest with my mother.
