Default Is your husband on your side?

I just wondered how many of you gals have your husband on your side when there are any in-law problems. It is a very rare thing, from what I observe. Husbands tend to "stay neutral" - or will openly tell the wife to shut up and put up.

Well I don't know but he sure defends me even if i'm wrong in some ways. I guess sometimes it depends on the situation he can be neutral or sometimes at my side.

I think they should be on the wife's side, unless the wife is the one causing problems and / or acting in a selfish, inappropriate manner.

I've never been in a situation where I needed my husband to defend me but if that were the case, I would prefer that he stayed neutral. Regardless of the circumstances that we may have to face with in laws or any other people, it is unrealistic for us to expect someone to take our side, as it is up to us entirely to defend our point of view and not someone else in our place.

Yeah but if the opposing family is way too strong I think you will need help. I really wanted him to just be on my side if there's ever going to be a problem but as of now there's no need for that.

I agree with what you are saying, but there can be all kinds of different situations. For example, I always stood my ground when we lived with my father-in-law - but he just ignored it and continued to do whatever he wanted, caring little about how it affected us / me. I did not want to fight with him all the time. What would you do in such a situation?

When it comes to matters of the family, it can be risky to pick sides, but in the matters of husband and wife, I think that the husband should stand up for his wife no matter what. They're supposed to allies who can trust and defend each other.
