Nowadays, while many would opt for a painless delivery and while I myself had this painless delivery, I would still strongly suggest one should go for the normal delivery. With normal delivery, a whole lot of benefits may be gained by the mother and the couple. Physically for the mother, normal delivery would make her more able to do things and shed be back to her normal activities sooner. These things are improbables when one gets into the CS type of delivery. What about you, which one did you have or prefer to have?

I would never chose to have a c-section delivery. My first birth experience was of a 36 hour long labour, in which I just had to have an epidural. My second labour lasted just 1 hour and I didn't have enough time to get any pain medication, but I much preferred this experience. |

I would gladly have a normal delivery. I didn't experienced must pain during labor. But my pelvic bone structure wouldn't allow my baby to come out in the normal way. We had no choice but to have a c-section delivery.

I have had two C-sections, and I struggled with depression over having them. I so wanted to have a natural birth, so it was a big disappointment for me. My last baby is 9months old, and I still feel tenderness at my incision site when I do certain things.

Definitely natural birth is much more preferable. With epidurals even vaginal birth is relatively painless. C-section has a long recovery time. My wife had a c-section. It's been 5 years and still sometimes my wife feels pain in that area. remember it is a major surgery. -F |

Yes, thats right! giving birth normally will bring back to her normal life very soon and the pain is only at delivery, but c-section has pain even after the delivery and have to take tablets, which i hate to do.

I had 4 babies all normal deliveries. I don't think that any woman would choose to have a c-section over normal delivery. The recovery time is much longer with a c-section.

I had only one son and i gave birth normally. In caesarian we have to take rest for 3 moths and we need others help till recovery. But in normal delivery i am back to normal by the next day itself.

Mine is C-Section, after struggling for almost 20hrs for normal delivery. I always suggest & prefer normal delivery, why because it is a natural phenomenon of giving birth to a child, where we can get back to normal position, where as, C-Section is fully opposite to normal delivery.

i have given birth normally for my previous pregnancy. although i did have an epidural done since i was in labor for more than 13 hours. recovery period is faster for those who give birth in a normal procedure, and i believe there are less complications as well.

I would much rather have a vaginal birth as opposed to to a c-section. With my youngest (7 months) he was breech a few weeks before I was supposed to be induced (due to some health issues my OB wanted to induce me at 39 weeks). I was told we could undergo a very painful external version (where they physically push on your stomach and turn the baby around) or we could just schedule a cesarean and hope he turned on his own. HOLY CRAP that baby flipping hurt but I'd do it again in an instant if it meant I might not have to have a cesarean. Women were meant to give birth vaginally. Obviously, if the situation isn't looking good and a cesarean is needed bc of harm to the mom or baby, that is fine. But I don't think women should opt for a c-section.

The baby needs you to go through the laboring process. It helps to clear out the baby's lungs and prepare it for the outside world. Also during a c-section the baby's neck is pulled on so hard it does damage to it's spine that is best to try and avoid. |

I must say both are really painful bt I would prefer the normal way of giving birth. By the way if you get caesarian how long will the would be healed as well as the stitches. Is it going to be permanent already?

there are literally millions of c-sections done around the world, I haven't heard of rampant spinal injuries. Did you just make that up? -F |

that's the problem I see repeatedly in this forum. People post all kinds of crap that not only are unhelpful but downright dangerous pieces of information. Then when asked they disappear. BusyBee and I have to take the responsibility to weed out the chaff and present only the correct information. -F Quote:
easy and not lift heavy weights for a few months. The scar will be there permanently, but these days they do it really low just above the pubic hairline so it wont be visible even if you wear a bikini. -F Last edited by farce; 08-13-2009 at 11:32 PM. Reason: Double post auto merged |

I had a normal delivery. The doc wanted to induce labor or do a cs but I wanted to just have a normal delivery. I had an easy delivery and recovered quickly, so I must have chosen correctly.

The choice of many women would always be for normal delivery. However, there are instances when this is not possible, like when the mother's health is fragile or when the baby is larger than the cervical opening. Sometimes, a woman has a choice but sometimes, there is no other choice.

I see thanks for the replies. I could never imagine myself getting a caesarian. o.O Giving birth is really not easy which is why I am wondering how some couples here got 13 kids with 2-3 years gap.

I have a caesarian section delivery for my baby boy. he was a breech baby that's why the OB told me that I have no choice but to go through CS. She don't want to risk both my and my baby's life if she will do normal delivery for me.

I have had normal births with my two daughters; however, I asked for the epidural both times. I guess I just did not want to go through all the pain that everyone talks about. Besides, c-section is usually the last resort type of procedure, as the normal delivery is much better for the baby.
