In India some people are still stuck with the practice of having delivery done in houses by the help of a lady called "DAI". due to this conventional mal practice of not consulting a doctor leads to so many complications and sometimes even to death.

This practice is common in remote and rural areas worldwide. But this has to be looked upon seriously already by all governments. Proper education and learning has to be undertaken in areas like these to prevent improper and unsafe practices in delivery. So much so that when it seems impossible to get the pregnant woman to the nearest place where there is a hospital, medical practitioners should be brought to these places to perform the function of giving safe delivery procedures for them. This way, abnormal deliveries and untoward incidents such as deaths and illnesses may be avoided.

Yes, delivering in a hospital is really a must to ensure the safety of both the mother and baby. Like in my case, my baby wouldn't come out in the normal way no matter how hard I pushed. My baby was getting stressed out that my obstetrician decided caesarian delivery. If not for the modern technology, one of us might not be able to get through with it.

The Human baby birth is the most difficult amongst all animals that give birth from the womb. I will like to leave this as a teaser question - please answer why. In the modern times, due to absence of proper exercise and sedentary life style, the child-birth has become a much more complex issue. Hence, it is not only wise and prudent, to have a child birth at a registered hospital/clinic, but that should be the only way.

This is really sad. I do think that in any country the safest place to have a baby is in the hospital. I have a friend who had her child at home in the bathtub. She had a midwife come to her house and help deliver the child. Then they ended up having to have an ambulance come and get both the mother and baby due to some complications. |

My second answer was an indirect answer, like a riddle as a reply to a riddle. I meant because the head size is the relatively the largest among mammals due to the brain development of humans. ;-) -F |

But large head does not mean 'smart'.

Delivery in hospital is much better and safe. Because we cannot expect it to be normal at all times, sometimes there may be risky. Immediate treatment will be possible in hospitals.

since there is already the option to deliver in hospitals now, it is definitely better than choosing to give birth at home or elsewhere. as stated by our other forumers here, we never know when medical attention or an emergency might arise so it is better to be prepared and in a facility where these emergencies can be well-facilitated and immediately responded to.

| My mom has had babies in both the hospital and at home and I honestly think both are okay, as long as you're comfortable with the people who are there with you. There was one time my mother was extremely stressed, because there were too many people in the house with her when she was giving birth... so I would advice only having the people who you NEED there with you.. and let everyone else wait until you're done. Just a thought.. I wouldn't know from personal experience though, because I'm 20.. but ya |
