I think a majority of WF members are not from north India. Are you from
north India and Hindi-speaking? because I see this response in many
friends who are surprised that there are many parts of the country
that are not aware of Hindi and Hindi celebrities, let alone people
from other parts of the world.

I agree on that that this forum has people from different parts of world! Im not from North India and still know about Karan Johar.

And believe me people from outside India know about Hindi films and celebs, what makes you say that?

A tiny miniscule percentage outside india who are not Indians know or care about Indian celebrities and that too I think the only celebs they know are
Aishwarya Rai, Sharukh Khan, Amithab Bhachan, Rajinikanth,
ARRahman and Dr. Abdul Kalam. I havent googled Karan Johar yet
and I have never heard of him ;-) and my general knowledge is
excellent, I get most of the answers correct while watching Jeopardy ;-)

Hehe. I usually fail Jeopardy isn't something I'm typically very great at. I would feel so genius if I were to be a contestant.

Just to be a bit off topic, its not necessary for one to be from India to know about Bollywood celebrities, I was born and brought up in Canada, and same as my cousins we know who he is! And a majority of my non Indian friends know about celebs from Bollywood, ie such as Karan Johar!
