Thumbs up Baking soda to clean sterling silver jewelry

When I was looking for a way to get my sterling silver jewelry to shine again, I found a little article on E-how stating that the best way to clean sterling silver is to use baking soda.
I gave it a try and it worked very well. I used to buy the cleaning kits that came in a box but the shine never really lasted. Baking soda is a cost-effective and a more environment-friendly way and from what I notice, it yields better results as well.

If you would like to read the details and the instructions, here is the link:

I'll be giving that a try. It looks like a very useful site and I have bookmarked it for future reference. Thanks.

That is great advice! I always have baking soda in the house. I use it for everything from freshening the fridge, to using it in the pool. I am glad to hear that it lasts longer than the other cleaners too.

I knew it because we always used baking soda to clean our silver silverware when I was growing up, and it would make it look like new, nice and shining. So yes, I can see how baking soda would also work for silver jewelry!

I use toothpaste!! I guess it works because ot must have baking soda content - I'll try only baking soda next time and see if it cleans faster!!!
