What age did you change your infant from an infant carseat to a front facing one? Did you decide because of age or weight? My grandson is 24 pounds, 7 months old. We just switched him to a front facing car seat and he loves it! |

I think a rear facing car seat is safer till atleast 1 year old.

You are supposed to keep them rear facing until they are AT LEAST 20 pound AND one year old. They should meet both criteria in order to be switched to front facing. This is the MINIMUM STANDARD. Also, rear facing is safer even for older toddlers, so if your car seat has the capacity, you should keep your child rear facing for as long as you can. This will greatly reduce their risk of spinal cord injury in the event of an accident.
