Default House or Apartment?

Do you live in a house or in an apartment and which one do you prefer?

I think both has its advantages. I grew up in an apartment, and I've always wanted to live in a house. Apartment may be easier to take care of, but house certainly feels better.

If I were living on my own, I would have to say an apartment, because if something breaks, I want to know I have someone who will fix it for me lol. But, living with my bf, I would love to have a house. It's great living in a house because you can play loud music and not get yelled at by the neighbors, plus having a backyard for my dog would always be a plus.

I am married with a family. We own our house. I have never lived in an apartment or even rented a house. My thought is that if I am paying monthly for something, I want to eventually have some equity in it.

That's a very good point. Paying for something just to "borrow" it is kinda lame. It would be nice if I had the money to have a house and know it's mine. Hopefully one day!

I'm living in a house and I also prefer it. I can do whatever I want without any limits and there's no rental expenses for it. I really feels great when you can get yourself a house from your own money.

Yes, this is true - throwing money away on renting does not sound good. Buying a condo would be an option, it is somewhat like an apartment, but you own it.

I think it's better to own a house than rent an apartment. You pay your monthly rent but in the end, it's not yours. So I think that if you have money to spare or if you have a chance to get a rent-to-own house, then I think that will be better.

I would really like to rent to own a house in the next few years. I think it would be a lot nicer than throwing my money away just to have a roof over my head lol

I think a house would be better because you can own it, even if that's not right away. Houses appreciate in value if you take care of them, but the issue of property tax can be a big deal. At least you can put that on your taxes, right?

I really can't wait to find a house I like, because I want to know my money is being put into something that I can really appreciate and keep for the rest of my life. I know a few young people that own a few houses and are renting them out. I hope one day I can do that!

That's a good way to have some passive income, although tenants can be a pain to deal with. A friend of ours had to get the police involved dealing with one of his tenants. The guy wouldn't pay, then he took stuff that didn't belong to him when he moved out, plus it turned out he piled his trash in the garage because he did not want to pay for garbage removal.

I prefer house over apartments...
To own a house is a dream come true.. Living in house has many benefits like no need to worry about monthly rents, can have our own space outside the house, within the gates its your world...
